Gastric issues


Gastric diseases refer to diseases affecting the stomach. Inflammation of the stomach by infection from any cause is called gastritis, and when including other parts of the gastrointestinal tract called gastroenteritis. Gas in your stomach is primarily caused by swallowing air when you eat or drink. Most stomach gas is released when you burp or it will accumulate in the stomach and causes symptoms such as  frequent burping, passing gas, pain, cramps or a knotted feeling in the abdomen, feeling of fullness or pressure in your abdomen (bloating), constipation, observable increase in the size of your abdomen (distention).

Which Ayurvedic treatments can be prescribed for gastric issues
At Swaasthya customized treatments are prescribed because every individual is different.  Basthi karma is a common treatment prescribed for gastric issues but prior to basthi karma we will do abhyangam and potali as a pre-procedure.

Basthi karma: Basti is an enema of herbal oils or decoctions used in Ayurveda. Basti is one of the five Pradhana Karmas of Panchakarma and it is used to treat vata disorders, constipation, heamorrhoids, decreases lower backache, and pain caused by gout and rheumatism.

  1. Snehavasthi: Vasti with medicated oil or ghee is called Sneha vasti.
  2. Kashayavasthi: vasthi with medicated decoction is called kashaya vasthi

Virechana: Virechana is one of the Panchakarma therapies wherein purgation is induced by ayurvedic medicine. It is given after properly judging the type of disease and tolerance of the patient. It helps to flush out of the toxins and excess mucus from the GI tract and thus improves digestion, Clears congestion from the liver and thus improves metabolism and fat digestion. Relieves gastrointestinal disorders. Improves the condition of skin disorders, rashes & allergies.
