Swedana can be of bifurcated into two types- Pinda Sweda (normally Potali treatments) and Vasthi treatments ( external oil treatments on a particular joint or affected area)

PODIKIZHI (CPS)

Potali sweda is a form of sudation in which medicine is tied in a cloth (in the form of bolus) and heated with or without medicated oil or decoction and applied on the required part of the body after abhyanga. This generates therapeutic effect by nourishing, rejuvenating and relaxing the body. Depending upon the type of material used, potalis are of different types.

Nadeesweda is a unique form of swedana procedure, where perspiration is induced by passing steam over the whole body or specific part of the body by using nadee which means a tube. Herbs added with water is boiled in the nadeesweda yantra and steam is generated. The generated steam is allowed to pass through the tube fitted to the instrument.
